That's what your doing when you smoke around other populace. Non-smokers don't like breathing smoke, and if you insist on smoking practical them your no better than a bum on the street that starts urinating on the sidewalk. Why should people own to avoid walking on a sidewalk because someone is inconsiderate.
If you don't smoke around other people and they put in the picture you to stop then sure, update them to f&^k off. But when your a smoker and smoke around other folks you have to adopt that what doesn't bother a smoker is considered filthy and disgusting to non-smokers. In fact some nation may have asthma and your smoking could dispatch them to a hospital.
So it really depends on what you mean by the give somebody the third degree. Its not clear if you mean populace tell you to because your bothering them or because they want to undisruptive you from yourself. Different answer depending on which it is.
