Staph infection?

I think I own a mild staph infection due to a slip n slide. i wore a tankini and now i own red dots and cuts across my stomach and upper thigh area. it doesn't hurt or itch but i wash the area beside soap and water and later i put cortisone ointment on it. do you know of any more ways i can return with rid of it?
